  • Pruning old lemon trees

I have HEAVILY pruned a lemon tree and wonder if I overdid it?
i did so at the end of fruiting in the last month. It was too big for its site and I wanted to shape it up. The cuts have been sealed. The fruit were good, if a bit ugly-skinned. The trunk has some heavy scarring as per photos.Wife and baking-friendly neighbour are not impressed.
Can I get feedback please? Save it, plant new? How long til it fruits- 2 or more seasons? Limb at front will be shortend but even I felt it couldnt lose the foliage!
