  • Pohutukawa in the Netherlands

    Hi gardeners,

I'm a amateur gardener in the Netherlands. I visited New Zealand in 2017 and brought home some seeds from the Pohutukawa tree, because I like the tree and thought it would be a fun challenge to raise it here.

After several attempts, I finally managed to have one (!) seedling, which after 4 years (!) has now grown into this plant:

As you can see, there's plenty of leaves, but that's all there is. No stalk, no flowers. I am starting to wonder if this is actually a pohutukawa. Maybe some other seed landed in my planting tray. It would be a fun story if I had gone through all that trouble and raised a dandelion for 4 years!

Can you confirm that this is, or is not, a pohutukawa? And if so, how long do I have to wait until it will bloom?

    Thanks!
