  • Growing Astilbe from seed

I'm looking at growing Astilbe from seed, and trying to gather information about how best to do this, given the seeds are hard to germinate. Two things have stuck out so far, from what I've read. One person said it worked fine for them with a grow light, and somewhere else said if they don't germinate within the expected time (4-5 weeks) that the seedling punnets could be put in the fridge for a week, then bring them out and try again. I've currently got some Aquilegia seeds in the fridge, so I understand that some seeds do better with that cold period before planting. Is there any truth to either of these things in terms of Astilbe? Are there other things I can try doing to bring about successful germination?
