  • Fig tree health

I would like to ask for some advice on whether our Fig tree is in need of some loving care. We live in Island Bay and up on a hill exposed to high winds with spray off the sea. Historically, the tree has produced an abundance of fruit each year with full foliage. We've trimmed the tree, with expert advice, on some winter occasions. Today, we return to our property after renting it out for two years. I return to see the tree in what looks to be 'burnt' and dead state. There looks to be new leaf buds forming at the very ends and at some lower stages but none growing inbetween, it looks more like a dead twig.

Looking at the photos, can anybody offer me any insight into what might be happening or whether there is nothing to worry about, please?
